Active Living By Design has a whole new look

We have evolved our visual identity to better reflect our mission: create community-led change by working with local and national partners to build a culture of active living and healthy eating.

Same name, same commitment to healthy communities

Our name, and our commitment to promoting healthy communities, remains the same. Yet Active Living By Design has entered a new chapter. Founded in 2001 as a national program office of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to support 25 communities, ALBD now serves a multitude of communities and funders locally and nationally. In recent years, we've expanded our charge to increase healthy eating in tandem with routine physical activity as we work with partners to create healthy communities.

New logo, new look

Our new logo represents the nexus of our commitment to the work: community building (home), healthy eating (fork) and routine physical activity (bicycle spokes). The simple, spare design is also intended to evoke variations of these themes (others among us see buildings, basketballs or sneakers, too).

Another symbolic twist is that the "b" in our name will now be capitalized when referring to our organization. ALBD has grown up.

Active Living "AL" lives on through our grantee program

Active Living "AL," as we affectionately call our original logo, will remain the visual identity for the original 25 Active Living communities funded by RWJF. This logo serves as the visual identity for the grantee program, "Active Living by Design" (also evidenced by the small "b").
